The CPU power socket on the motherboard is not secure.
Hello, I was assembling a new computer and completed all installations. Once it was ready to boot, the RGB lights activated before I began the setup. During startup, the debug indicator appeared alongside "DRAM." The RAM installation seemed correct. I forced shutdown by pressing the power button repeatedly until fans stopped, but the RGB lights remained lit. I experimented with various RAM setups—using different sticks, slots, and even a different kit—but nothing resolved the issue. I also tested a working RAM module from another manufacturer, though results were still unsatisfactory. All power connections appeared secure; I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the main cable multiple times, but no improvement. Is there any chance this system can be fixed, or should I assess which components are usable and restart from scratch? The components I have include an AMD 5800X, Asus B550-F ROG STRIX kit with 16x2 32GB RAM, NZXT 1000W PSW, and a 7950 GPU (considered outdated, only for testing). No storage devices are connected at the moment.
I attempted, but no change occurred. I took out the battery and disconnected the device, thinking this would resolve the issue. I’ll pause for a few minutes then retry.
It's quite unusual. Running Memtest64 on each stick individually might reveal unexpected results.
I don't have access to your personal hardware details, but you can check the motherboard's manufacturing date by looking at the label on the side or back of the PC case. If the BIOS isn't current for the 5800X, consider updating it through your system settings or contacting the manufacturer's support.
Despite being a B550, I was under the assumption it would work with Ryzen 5000 chips from the start. I’ll verify this soon. My approach: test each component separately on another machine and use memtest64 for each stick to assess any issues. This should give me an idea of the damage and possibly allow fixing everything at once. Thanks everyone, I’ll update once I have more information.
B550 modules released prior to 5000 Ryzen, mostly targeting Ryzen 3000 models, meaning you might have a very old stock unit.
Hello, I identified the issue causing this problem. The CPU power socket on the motherboard isn't secure properly—it functions when pressure is applied but fails instantly if you remove your hand. You can likely fix it yourself and get back to work, or you might want to return it for replacement. Thanks for your support!
