I made an error while setting up a budget system for my friend. I bought a used mobo/cpu combo from Ebay. With a limited budget, I haven’t received a case yet, but I wanted to confirm the components worked. The PC started when I sat on a box, I installed Windows and began installing standard programs. I moved the system away from my desk, and it froze. After shutting down the power supply and restarting, it didn’t boot or produce any Mobo sounds. The CPU fan spun, but I saw a CPU light. I suspect I may have short-circuited the system and destroyed it. Which component is most likely failed?
I tried reseating the CPU multiple times, cleared CMOS several times, used both good RAM and power supply, and even tested with and without the boot drive. I don’t have another compatible mobo or CPU to test.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have a graphics card yet, but my processor includes an integrated GPU.
my friend, you mentioned having hdmi or dp on mb, dvi, or vga... make sure to check the cable.
