I made an error while setting up a budget system for my friend. I bought a used mobo/cpu combo from Ebay. With a limited budget, I haven’t received a case yet, but I wanted to confirm the components worked. The PC started when I sat on a box, I installed Windows and began installing standard programs. I moved the system away from my desk, and it froze. After shutting down the power supply and restarting, it didn’t boot or produce any Mobo sounds. The CPU fan spun, but I saw a CPU light. I suspect I may have short-circuited the system and destroyed it. Which component is most likely failed?

I tried reseating the CPU multiple times, cleared CMOS several times, used both good RAM and power supply, and even tested with and without the boot drive. I don’t have another compatible mobo or CPU to test.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

nothing has died, verify all cables, power and image, you moved something unnoticed. In any other scenario, if something fails, it is probably due to the power supply.

I've removed all connections and changed them multiple times already. Could you clarify what you mean by image? I also used another reliable power supply and still faced the same issue.

I don't have a graphics card yet, but my processor includes an integrated GPU.

I have nothing. The PC isn't even posting. I can't even reach the BIOS.

remove the power cable and let it rest for a moment, then reconnect it and see if it works... from now on, check your power source.
