You could simply take out the cooler. Then install the RAM in slots 2 and 4, provided it's dual-channel. If it's a single stick, place it in a more distant dimmer.

Think like Linus—swap the old tools for a grinder or Dremel. Or splurge on a new Noctua cooler for $40 that’ll handle better than that dusty old unit. Also, I ran into a radiator problem that needed fixing, sad times.
