I recently assembled my first computer and attempted to overclock the RAM, but it failed and the machine didn’t power up for several minutes. After removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard, it started working, though the CPU fan was clicking six times. Everything appears to be active and spinning, which makes it hard to identify the issue. Additionally, I’m unable to shut down the system.

Reinstall the CMOS battery and remove the CMOS clear jumper above the front panel connectors. If no jumper exists, attach one—identical to those used on previous IDE drives. Alternatively, if none are available, use a flathead screwdriver to touch the pins and short them carefully. Power on the system for roughly a minute with the jumper in place or removed, based on the original setup. Afterward, turn it off and restore the CMOS battery, then restart once more. Expect a display output; overclocking is highly unlikely to damage your memory.

I performed that action and the outcomes remain unchanged. The only variation is that when I activate just the power supply, the RAM begins to illuminate while other components stay inactive.

Apologies for the delayed response. I'm testing a different RAM or GPU to see if it resolves the issue. Please confirm if the monitor is functioning properly, as that was often missed.
