Hey there, I see you're dealing with an issue where your i5 10400f drops to base speed in Apex. It seems like the problem might be related to overheating or thermal throttling, even though you mentioned it's not overheating. Have you tried checking the temperatures with a monitoring tool? Also, could you confirm if the BIOS update is still active and if there are any recent changes to the chipset or drivers? Let me know if you need further guidance!
It might be due to a power cap. By default, after roughly 50 seconds, the 10400F is restricted to 65W. Have you disabled power restrictions in the BIOS?
It would likely fall under the OC configurations. I think MSI boards were generated when asked about the type of cooler and adjusting power limits. Choosing "Water Cooling" would push performance to its peak. If no cooler option exists, you'd need settings like "Power Limit," "Long Term Power Limit," or "PL1." There would also be "Short Term" or "PL2" caps and a "Duration" restriction. You'd aim to hit all limits. Not every game supports this level of tuning. Most are designed for lighter threading, so power becomes restricted mainly through Turbo Boost frequency on a few cores before you hit limits.
Good morning, everything seems fine. You installed throttlestop and noticed the mmio checkbox is present, but the msr option isn't available.
I tried it but didn’t see any gains; I ran a benchmark and reached over 70W, yet speed dropped back to base when I hit apex.
