I've been facing this problem for more than a month now. It first appeared when my game froze, but I didn't understand the cause. I started using HWinfo to monitor the sensors. I observed that my CPU temperatures reached around 90°C to 95°C, while the fan spun at about 800 RPM. After restarting the PC and opening Windows, HWinfo showed the fan adjusting based on the temperatures. Initially, I assumed it was a CPU issue, so I swapped in an R5 5600 instead of the R5 2600... The problem repeated. I considered Windows 11, so I reformatted and installed Windows 10... After a week, it happened again. I attempted to update my BIOS... It still occurred. Then I forced the CPU fan to run at full speed regardless of temperature, but the issue persisted—this time the fan stopped completely, and even the two case fans dropped to 0 RPM. This clearly indicates the problem isn't limited to the CPU fan. Keep in mind this is happening intermittently and is quite frustrating to fix. The only solution left is replacing the motherboard, which would be a major undertaking and costly. I really appreciate any advice you can offer!

Confirm the exact location of the CPU fan connection. Verify if it uses PWM or DC power and ensure the BIOS settings match the corresponding header.

It’s confirmed they’re powered on. PWM uses four connections, yes. All three fans are PWM and configured through the BIOS. I plan to reset the CMOS tomorrow.

PWM headers use four connections. Confirm they’re configured for PWM in the BIOS, as mentioned. Have you verified the fans operate at the intended low speed?

The CPU fan operates in PWM mode by default, while the two case fans run on DC power. Your question about "that low RPM" seems unclear—around 1000 RPM at 42°C and nearly reaching 1800 RPM at 69°C is typical. I’ll wait for a confirmation if this repeats.

Fans gave another warning. This round the CPU cooler spun around ~800 RPM steadily, while temperatures stayed above 50°C and both side fans remained idle.

I ended up purchasing a new motherboard. The weather has been favorable since the fans are performing as expected.
