Did you attempt to install it via BIOS or through software in Windows? CAP files are the appropriate files for BIOS updates.

Update the bios for your motherboard to the newest release. For a z170 platform, you can also push beyond just the turbo settings.

Ensure your BIOS is updated to the most recent release for your motherboard. As a Z170 platform user, you can overclock beyond just the turbo. I attempted to download newer BIOS files, but they only loaded as CAP files. After trying to transfer them to a USB flash drive and install using Asus EZ Flash 3, I received an error stating "selected file is not a proper BIOS." What should I do next?

Consider attempting a clear CMOS setup followed by an update to the BIOS. That might resolve the issue. Ensure the CAP file is properly extracted from any compressed files.
