hello so in certain games like fortnite and csgo it doesn’t require much cpu and gpu power, which results in lower fps. this means i don’t get the full 144hz advantage. for example, while playing fortnite i’m seeing around 50% gpu usage and 50-60% cpu usage, only around 120-170fps, which is disappointing since why doesn’t it use the remaining 50% or more to achieve better gfps? my specs are an i5 8400 and rtx 2080 with 32gb ram.

consider increasing the FPS limit in the console
fps_max 144
yet another point is that Mr.Google mentions the
i5
840
0
with a base clock of 2.8Ghz, which is quite low and likely a major bottleneck. It rises to 3.8 But it might still be an issue.

I suggest a CPU that can be overclocked.

It's too late. It looks like the frame rate is about 144 fps. He likely doesn't have a Z370/390 MoBo, which might not be an issue. We just don't know because he didn't mention it.
