Windows 7 will stop receiving major updates on January 13th and moves into its extended support stage. I’m curious about whether the cost of Windows 7 will drop after that date. If you’re looking for an OS for your build, you might prefer a cheaper alternative to Windows 8, especially if you can find Windows 7 at a lower price. Let me know if you need more details!

@ Yoyomah20 It still has mainstream support for 2 more days. The price should go down once mainstream support ends, I'm 100% not sure though. Also don't forget to follow your own topics!

They hold significant influence over resellers, making it likely they remove all available stock.

They remove every retail version from the shelves. Yet for gadgets running Windows by default, purchases keep going as long as stock remains... (I might still manage to buy a brand new Windows Vista machine.)

MS halted the sale of most Windows 7 licenses on October 31st. OEM versions of Windows 7 Professional remain in stock, though they are priced higher than Home Premium. I believe the cost won<|pad|> can be reduced. You might find Windows 8.1 more affordable.
