Hi everyone,
This weekend I assembled a new gaming setup. The system appears to function properly overall, except for my Corsair headset. This issue is unusual since the headset sometimes works perfectly, other times not at all, or alternates between working and not working, with the mic functioning while the headphones fail and vice versa.
I’m using Windows 10 and verified that all settings are correct in the Sound section. There are no available drivers for this device, so updates aren’t possible there. The case only has one opening for the headphone jack on the front.
Here are my hardware details:
- MSI Pro Z690-A wifi mainboard
- Intel Core i5-12600KF
- 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 RAM
- NZXT H510 case
- Windows 10

EDIT
The issue appears to be resolved for the mic, but audio still plays through the speakers on my desk.

Your motherboard includes a mic in and headphone jacks, so try those. If the case has a single combo jack, verify the connection to the motherboard headers. Additionally, test the headphones on another system or phone.

Sounds like a bad/loose connection. The headset should have a dual 3.5mm connection or splitter. Check that it's in tight on both the headset and the computer side and is in the right ports.

I’ve experienced persistent problems with the XBox Game Bar. When it’s running, verify the microphone and sound device settings; they often don’t align with Windows, and using the default option doesn’t always resolve the issue.

The headset did include a splitter, but there is only the single plug to plug into on the case. Having a splitter does nothing for me if there is nowhere to plug them in.

I tested the headphones on my phone and they worked perfectly, so it must be something else. I’ll have to crawl under my desk to check the PC, which isn’t ideal since it hurts. That’s going to take some time because I’m not feeling my best (crawling is painful!). Still, I need to do it since it seems one of my case fans isn’t connected. Thanks for the advice!

Problem resolved! I discovered alternative Realtek drivers that fixed the issue! Thanks everyone. This discussion can now be closed.
