The computer won’t start and it’s hard to determine the issue.
My computer is causing me a lot of stress. Over the past three weeks I've been working on fixing an unknown issue. Hardware: MSI B450 A Pro max CPU, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 Super, GSKill 2x8Gb DDR4 3000 PSU (BeQuiet 500W, 80+ Gold). Initially I saw the message "Devices changed or CMOS cleared.... F1 Setup... F2 Load default..." and tried to restart. After a safe shutdown and exit, my PC crashed and shut down completely when I tried to boot again. The CPU started up but didn't show any signal. After some thought, I realized my BIOS might be corrupted from the sudden crash. I flashed it and it worked for a week. Recently I attempted to start it, but nothing happened—no fans, no lights, no sounds. It seems like a faulty circuitry issue. I cleaned everything out, replaced the CMOS battery, tested the PSU with a paperclip, stress-tested CPU and GPU, and everything functioned properly. Still, it started again briefly before failing again. Now I'm worried because I need my PC for work urgently and this situation is really stressful.
Use one RAM module only. If the problem continues, switch to the other stick.
Sure, I can check the CPU and GPU performance on another system or with a different CPU. You can also try a different power supply unit. Let me know which one you'd like to test!
Unfortunately I can't run the CPU right now. The GPU might be available soon, and I'll try another one on Monday. At this stage I'm leaning toward the motherboard issue. I'll upload a video today—it's just a mess, honestly.
Unfortunately, I can't capture a clear video of the issue but describing it should help. My system won’t power on anymore, the button doesn’t respond, and shorting the power pins isn’t effective. Resetting the CMOS only gets me going for about 10 minutes with normal temperatures. It’s unclear which component might be causing this problem.
