I seldom power down my PC, typically switching it to sleep so everything restarts the next morning with a single press. Recently, however, it has been shutting down unexpectedly during sleep mode, erasing all unsaved files. Apart from that, everything runs smoothly. Could my motherboard be failing?

I'm facing the same problem as you, and it began around the same time. Have you found a solution? Often I've attempted to activate it while it was in sleep mode, but it shuts off instead (with an audible noise since all relays are off). It appears the issue has worsened—it now powers off almost instantly after entering sleep mode, usually within 5 to 10 minutes. I never save any work before going to bed, so I haven't lost anything, but it's becoming increasingly frustrating. I'm unsure whether the problem lies with the motherboard or the power supply unit. Both are covered under warranty, though I believe the coverage ends this winter. Since both components are high-end, losing either one now is really disappointing. The only clues I see in Event Viewer are: "The previous system shutdown at 10:00:05 AM on ‎7/‎23/‎2023 was unexpected." and "The system rebooted without a clean shutdown. This error might stem from the system stopping, crashing, or losing power suddenly." My motherboard defaults to its last state (power on/off) after a power loss, but it doesn't seem to detect any power loss because the PC doesn't automatically restart like it does during an outage. This suggests the PSU might be the culprit. That would be frustrating since the PSU is much cheaper.

I installed the new computer a week ago, so I’m not sure. I kept the power supply unit, and it’s functioning properly.

I believe the issue might be with the motherboard, so I'll submit a return request when it's safe to do so. My previous setup had power problems too, which led me to replace the PSU and didn't fully resolve the matter. The machine is quite outdated, making it hard and costly to locate a compatible motherboard, but this one isn’t that old—it’s an Asus ROG priced at $350. I’m feeling let down by its build quality. I plan to reset the CMOS and update the BIOS first; maybe the problem lies in those settings.
