Hey there! I own a water-cooled PC for work that’s been causing several problems over the past few months. Mostly, I’ve been managing it because my schedule has been packed and I couldn’t take the time to replace it. Now I have a small window in my day, and I’m eager to figure out what’s going on. The main concerns are:
- Usually, I connect to work using half of my ultra-wide and the other half for Chrome/YouTube streaming, keeping under twenty tabs open. Sometimes the machine lags, audio stutters, and video plays slowly but doesn’t freeze.
- Occasionally, the PC freezes completely. The screen locks, then audio and UI follow, ending with a Blue Screen. This tends to happen every 1–2 hours. Once, during a video call, it would crash entirely.
- My system powers itself on unexpectedly—sometimes at odd hours, staying open in the login window. Nothing unusual seems to be running when I log in.
- Even though it’s water-cooled, my CPU stays warm (around 40–47°C). It runs hot for a machine of this type.
- I’ve tried several fixes: virus scans with Vipre, updated drivers, changed BIOS settings, updated video drivers, adjusted memory speed, and even set the CPU to 3600MHz manually. Nothing worked.
I’m not sure what’s causing these issues, but they’re becoming more frequent and disruptive. I’ve also noticed an alert popping up when shutting down that says “LogTransport2.exe Application Error” (0xc0000142), which suggests a possible startup glitch.
My biggest worry is the random shutdowns. I’m not sure if this is related to the driver or something more serious like a failing cooling system, video card problems, memory issues, or even a bad stick.
What I’ve tried so far:
- Keep Vipre updated.
- Run DriverHandy Pro.
- Update BIOS.
- Change video card settings.
- Adjust CPU speed manually.
Still no resolution. I’m running out of ideas and am considering investing more before diving deeper. Any insights would be really helpful!
It's a typical CPU temperature. Water cooling just transfers the heat to the radiator for release, without changing how the machine operates compared to an air cooler.
