Hello everyone, the issue with my computer is that it occasionally stops working unexpectedly. It might occur after hours, sometimes right after a restart following a crash, or most irritatingly, while I'm typing for help multiple times. It's quite bothersome. I can play games for long periods without problems, even during peak heat, and still watch YouTube or Disney for about ten minutes without any crashes or warning messages. After replacing my motherboard, reformatting the SSD, and updating all drivers, it seems to work better. Any advice on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. It appears to happen mainly when the PC isn't under heavy use. It doesn’t overheat and doesn’t generate error logs. My system specs are: Windows 10 64-bit, MAG motherboard, B560 chipset, Intel i5 11400F, GTX 960 graphics, 24GB RAM, 800W power supply. I’m also unsure if the issue is linked to internet speed, but my Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections work fine on this machine, while my phone and partner laptop function normally.

When the PC begins shutting down unexpectedly, the first things to check are overheating and the power supply. Since you mentioned you can handle games well, I wouldn't assume it's due to overheating, but running a benchmark could reveal actual temperatures. Regarding the power supply, 800W seems excessive for this setup, so it's fine there, though you should verify if it's a trusted manufacturer. The next test would be memory diagnostics using memtest86, which is simple. Also, updating the BIOS is recommended.

Thanks for the update. It looks like you likely found a fix. The GPU temperature reached 70 and the motherboard hit 90, but everything was functioning. I replaced the PSU a few years back and considered upgrading later, but budget constraints stopped me. I ran MemTest and everything checked out. I tested each RAM stick separately and thought I resolved it. Since it was an intermittent issue, it was tough to confirm. I removed one stick and everything worked again. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Avoid unnecessary software as it may lead to crashes and slow performance

It might stem from a faulty BIOS. That’s my initial thought (besides PSU issues). But if you swap out the RAM, it resolves the problem—no further action needed.
