My computer is quite old, yet in recent days it has been experiencing issues where it doesn't always start up properly. This started after I tried enabling secure boot, which led me to change the file system from MBR to GPT. When I deactivated the older BIOS setting in the BIOS settings, the system failed to recognize the drive. I also updated the BIOS firmware, but that update was released last October and I haven't encountered this problem before.

The main issue is that the machine won't boot when I press the restart button in the operating system or when I power it back on after a restart. It also fails to start if it's left off for long periods and then I turn it on again. The only way to get it to boot into BIOS/OS is by waiting until it powers up completely and then pressing the reset button on the case. Otherwise, I see only a black screen, the system turns on normally but nothing appears in the BIOS or OS.

My specifications are:
- Ryzen 5 3600 CPU
- MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max MoBo
- Nvidia GeForce 6GB graphics card

I believe the problem isn't hardware-related since it works perfectly when powered on, even though I left it on overnight to confirm. I attempted to reset the BIOS by removing the battery, but that didn't resolve the issue and brought me back to legacy mode.

Possible solutions I'm considering are restoring from a backup I saved on a removable HDD a few weeks ago or reverting the SSD back to MBR format. Would either of these approaches work? Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

Prepare a bootable USB drive with Windows and perform a repair on the current Windows setup.
Check if the CMOS battery provides the proper voltage or if it is depleted.
Identify the brand and model of the power supply unit.

Will this eliminate all my programs and applications? Will I need to buy Windows again?
I reset the CMOS by taking out and putting back in the battery, which is the same one that came with the board and appears to work.
I have a Seasonic GX-550 80+ Gold PSU.

Avoid both options. The fix involves only updating the boot files, not performing a full installation.
