I've checked my setup: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit AMD Ryzen 5900X (no overclock, boost clock off), Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler Asus ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO (BIOS 4602, updated August 23, 2023), Asus TUF 3070Ti OC (only factory settings), Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB 3200MHz C16 (DOCP active, no overclock). The system uses Samsung 980 Pro 1TB M.2 NVME, plus USB devices like the Logitech G Pro X headset, G502 Lightspeed mousepad, Elgato Streamdeck, and a wireless K860 keyboard.

My PC often shuts down unexpectedly—sometimes it just turns off completely, though the power LED stays on. It won’t respond to input until I disconnect the power, wait for capacitors to drain, then reconnect. This usually happens during heavy tasks like gaming, but sometimes it occurs even when playing the same game with identical settings.

Temperatures are normal and rarely reach 80°C on either CPU or GPU, so thermal issues seem unlikely. My guess is it could be related to the power supply unit or the mainboard. I’m open to any advice to figure this out.

And hows the case fans looking? Is the gpu getting enough airflow to carry hot air away or is it just recirculating it back into the fans and being pushed through the heatsinks again and again? the gpu core could be fine but hotspots and memory could still be affected if youre not looking at those sensors

Hotspot looks fine according to HWMonitor. As said, 80°C is the highest and that was when the 3070Ti was pulling 280Watts of power. There is no sensor for VRAM temperature it seems. So to test the VRAM hypothesis i've modified the fan curve for more aggressive cooling. I'll test over the next few days to see if it has any effect. As i can not replicate the actual trigger, i'll have to see if it happens again when gaming.

I'll keep you informed. As mentioned, it may take a few days to confirm since the issue is quite unpredictable. That's frustrating because I favor errors that are consistent enough to diagnose accurately.
