Posted in troubleshooting area but I wasn't able to locate any solutions for my PC that keeps restarting unexpectedly (no blue screen). Motherboard: Asrock B450 Steel Legend CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 CPU cooler: stock cooler that came RAM: 8GB 2133 g. Skills (from previous system) GPU: GTX 1060 6gb (from previous system) Storage: Sandisk 240GB SSD boot drive and ADATA 960GB SSD PSU: Corsair Cx550m bronze rated Case: NZXT H500. So far I've tried everything possible to narrow down the issue without success. Tests I performed: Updated GPU driver, ran a full system scan for malware, removed the GPU and tested it in another system, swapped RAM with an older model, replaced the PSU with one from a previous setup, checked for loose cables or shorts, verified PC temperature in Ryzen Master, formatted the boot drive and reinstalled Windows 10. Still, the PC randomly restarts. I'm unsure what might be causing this and am considering a factory reset of the motherboard. Could anyone suggest a way to fix it? Also, if I have to reset the B450 motherboard back to its original settings, will it remain compatible with the Ryzen 3000 series or revert to the original B450 model that only supports earlier Ryzen generations? Please let me know. Also, in the event log, it mentions The DistributedCOM Error 10016—could that be contributing to the problem? Thanks ahead for any advice.

The article could suggest a possible fix. A new Windows installation might be the best choice. Resetting the motherboard would definitely assist. It maintains the same BIOS version, just reverting any custom settings. You might also test your RAM in a different slot.

It occurs at unpredictable times. It happens occasionally rather often. No specific app is involved. It tends to happen under heavy load or randomly.

It seems like a software issue might be the cause. You may have installed something new or updated Windows, which could be affecting performance. Follow the instructions in the linked article or consider repairing or reinstalling Windows.

It might be possible, but the boot drive is already formatted. I doubt any further cleaning will succeed.

Yeah, sorry about that. It’s unclear what else to do besides keep an eye on it and look for a pattern. Does it restart when you launch certain apps or under stress?

Occasionally it restarts when I log in, sometimes I can play for about two hours without issues, and other times even simple actions like using Chrome or Discord trigger a restart, appearing unpredictable. Regarding temperature, I haven’t noticed the CPU exceeding 60°C while gaming. It’s unclear what else might be causing this.
