While playing a game, my PC froze completely. I attempted to power it up but found no response—no LED lights, no fan rotation, nothing at all. Initially, I thought the power supply unit might be faulty, but when I manually triggered the power indicator, the PSU fans started spinning and the multimeter readings matched expected values. After taking everything apart—card, connectors, fans—I only had the 24-pin and 4-pin connectors left. I tried shorting the power pins, but still got nothing. Could my motherboard be nonfunctional?

I don't have the current specifications of your PC. Could you provide more details or check your system settings?

You're absolutely right, it sounds like your motherboard has stopped working.

It's a budget motherboard and a similarly inexpensive PSU, but I need to order something better this time. I want to make sure the quality is higher first.

If you can, ask a friend to lend you a PSU. It seems like it might be faulty—do you notice any signs of burning? If so, what does that look like? PSU? Motherboard? These components don’t usually break, but after more than five years they can fail.
