I own this machine roughly three years ago. It comes with a Ryzen 7 2700x, an Aorus x470 motherboard, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, and an EVGA RTX 2070 graphics card. Initially everything functioned flawlessly. About a year back it began behaving like an old car—slow, unresponsive, or even stuttering in cold weather. I’ve noticed similar issues online, but no fix has been found. When I power it on, everything boots normally until the startup sequence triggers excessive fan noise, lights up, and wakes the monitors. It cycles through codes and gives me a non-boot device message. Pressing the power button causes it to shut down instantly, then restarting restarts the process. I checked the BIOS for boot priority settings—it seems correct—but resetting it still leads to a clean OS wipe and a reset. Some people mentioned a failing PSU, so I swapped it out and the problem persisted. I keep cleaning the system because of my cats; dust buildup is an issue. I’m planning an upgrade and a friend wants the PC, but I’d rather resolve this myself so she doesn’t face the same troubles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like you're unsure about something, but it didn't seem to be an issue. I assumed they might be able to charge themselves.

I don’t recall the previous version since I discarded it; the latest is a Corsair 850w RGB model.

The moments when windows remain closed and even the BIOS display fails to show up is the issue. It appears as a completely black screen.

I swapped the CMOS and it didn’t make any changes.

A CR2025 might work temporarily if it stays connected. It has a shorter lifespan, but it can help with quick fixes.

I opened the BIOS and disabled “ultra fast boot.” Now the system behaves similarly, though my peripherals start up properly. Previously, all external components were completely inactive. It seems to wake the monitors from sleep, but they power down right away.

Solution identified. It seems the 'fast boot' setting isn't turning on the SATA and USB controllers, which is why it won't begin. Once stopped, it runs more slowly but initiates sooner than expected.
