I recently tried to start my computer and heard a sound I'd never noticed before. After it booted up quickly, the noise disappeared and I didn’t worry much. Last night I turned it off and back on about an hour ago, but the sound came back each time I tried. I’m certain it’s not a fan and suspect it might be related to my HHD. Tonight I’ll shut it down completely and when I restart tomorrow I’ll keep a close eye on it. Here are the details of my system:

- Ryzen 5 5600 (1 year old, B450 Steel Legend)
- Corsair Vengeance LPX (16GB, 1 year old)
- Cooler Master ML120 (3 years old)
- ASRock RX6600 (8GB, 2 months old)
- Samsung 970 TLC (500GB, 1 year old)
- WD Green 2TB (5400RPM, 11 years old)
- WD Blue 2TB (7200RPM, 2 years old)
- EVGA 600W 80+ white (3 years old)

Capture the sound now, because we can't identify it without hearing it.

I plan to try my best to remember to record tomorrow. After restarting my PC, it made a sound but was quiet and fast, which prevented the recording from capturing it.

You can turn off both spinning HDDs and check if the noise disappears. The 11-year-old WD Green could be the problem.

It seems to be an older HDD, but Crystaldisk reports it’s functioning well with roughly 96,000 hours of use. It might still be viable, though it could be nearing the end of its lifespan. You plan to test it by disconnecting the drives tomorrow.

I'm curious about whether the read-write head made contact with the platter.

It might also be the AIO pump failing.

It's also an option; I checked my readings and they're within the normal range (30-40°C). I'll load it later once I can fully assess it.

It seems like you're considering two possibilities: aio clogging or hard drive problems. Which one do you think might be causing the issue?

I believe you're expecting the sound today. If that doesn't happen, I'll look for a video instead.
