Hello, welcome! I'm just starting out with PC building and recently assembled a new system: Windows 10 Pro x64, an ASUS Prime B650M-A motherboard, AMD B650 Micro-ATX, a Ryzen 5 7600X CPU, G.Skill D532GB RAM, a Kingston NV2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, an Enermax Revolution 750W 80+ Gold power supply, an XFX Speedster SWFT 319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, and a Phanteks G360A mid-rail case with multiple fans.

My problem is that the PC frequently powers off during startup and while gaming, without any obvious crashes or strange noises. I don’t see any glitches, driver errors, or unusual sounds except for the occasional GPU whine that triggers shutdown. After restarting, it either needs a few minutes to boot or I have to connect the case power button cable.

I noticed Integrated Graphics and GPU were both active at once. Disabling the integrated graphics helped some games load faster, but crashes still occurred. I tried returning the GPU to the manufacturer and it worked fine. Recently, after 30 hours of playing Valheim without issues, I launched the game and the PC shut down completely—no restart needed. It doesn’t always crash immediately on high settings; it depends on the game and how long I play. The PC is plugged directly into a wall outlet.

I’ve asked several people and checked online, but I’m unsure if the issue is with the PSU or something else. Could it be a power supply failure? Or am I missing a bigger problem? Thanks for the info!

It seems like the power delivery might be problematic. Once high power usage starts, the system shuts down automatically. I’d first test another outlet, but if that doesn’t work, a circuit breaker could trip. You might want to bring in a second power supply for testing—it’s usually available at local stores with a 30-day return option. Another possible cause is extreme thermal throttling; keep an eye on CPU and GPU temperatures to ensure they aren’t running too hot.
