I recently got my new 5800x and am struggling to get it to boost properly even with auto mode enabled. Here are the details: the motherboard is Gigabyte B550 M.ORUS Pro G.SKILL Ripjaws 3200MHz, paired with an ASUS TUF 3080 non-OC Corsair RX 750 X, and a Noctua NH-D15. I've experimented with various settings in PBO—disabling it and using the default values—but nothing seems to work. The numbers I've tried are: EDC - 200A PPT, 140w TDC, 85 PBO scalar, 5x Curve optimizer, 10 all-core CPU boost clock override, 200MHz platform thermal throttle limit, 255 global C-states, and I disabled the feature. I also tried setting the CPU Vcore manually. It's possible I missed something or there might be an issue with my PSU. Everything is brand new, but I wonder if my RAM isn't in the QVL list for this model. It seems unlikely, though. Just noted it runs well in manual OC at 4.4GHz.
Memory remains strong. The G-skills QVL list is nearly complete (b550 pro). Have you turned on XMP?
Adjust settings to display quoted responses clearly. Enable PBO and disable XMP for better preview results.
Game performance peaks near 4.7-4.8ghz, while the chip runs smoothly above 4.5ghz in CB20.
I'm planning to disable XMP and check the impact. Note: It appears to function well so far in CB20.
I just updated the drivers this morning. It looks like everything is working fine so far. The performance seems solid, with a maximum boost of 4845mhz as reported by HWMonitor and a temperature around 79°C.
Refers to motherboard BIOS settings. Update the BIOS if needed. If XMP isn't working, download Aida64, navigate to motherboard ->SPD, view full timings, capture a photo, then adjust DRAM voltage to 1.35V and manually set timings and frequency. Similar problem occurred with my Crosshair VII hero using 2700X; memory was in MB QVL.
