The computer occasionally fails to power on.
Hello Everyone, I've been facing problems with my PC for a week—it rarely powers on. When I press the power button, the PSU makes one click, sometimes two fans spin, and then the RGB lights turn on before the computer shuts down. I've unplugged everything several times, but I'm still unsure what's causing the issue. The PC is about three years old.
The PSU clicking suggests a possible power supply issue. Try borrowing one from another computer to check if the problem persists. But keep in mind, the motherboard might also be the source since it can sometimes provide power briefly.
In my opinion, without me fixing it myself and sticking strictly to your advice, there are two possibilities. First, it could be a ground or short circuit. The main reason I’d start by checking for any possible shorts—like damaged cables, chewed wires, or contact between the motherboard and the case—is because it powers on intermittently. If you don’t have a backup power supply, I recommend turning off the PC completely and placing the motherboard inside its case to see if it boots there.
I would say your PSU is dead most likely. Small chance it's a motherboard issue as well. Only way to know for sure is to get a replacement PSU in there.
