The computer isn't turning on.
I recently attempted to assemble my own PC but upon powering it up nothing occurred. The motherboard lights came on initially, indicating everything was connected properly except the GPU, which only appeared later. When trying to install the GPU, it failed to turn on. I tested the power supply with a paperclip—it worked and started—but using a screwdriver on the start pins didn’t help. I also tried removing components one by one to identify the problem, but nothing resolved the issue. Eventually, I replaced the motherboard, and the same problem persisted. I’m unsure what’s wrong with my system and don’t have any clues about the cause.
Have you attempted to detach the motherboard using a screwdriver?
I wonder if you might have faced some bad luck and ended up with two boards running BIOS versions from the very beginning. For the 5800X to function on that motherboard, you’d need BIOS version 1004 or newer. Although 1004 is quite old, it’s not impossible that this situation occurred.
The only way to update the BIOS would be with a CPU compatible with the older BIOS, specifically a 3000 series processor. Perhaps you could visit a repair shop and they might have a spare part to quickly update the BIOS? This isn't necessarily the main issue, but it's quite possible. Many users on the forum have reported similar problems. I'm aware that MSI B550 MAX boards are designed for the 5000 series CPUs, which already have an updated BIOS from the factory.
I discovered the problem was the 24-pin connector wasn’t fully inserted and the PSU cable housing wasn’t releasing properly. I used a cable mod extension and it connected to the motherboard and started working.
