The computer isn't turning on.
She had her PC running yesterday. Black Friday brought a new NVMe Gen 3 for it. On today’s day it didn’t power on at all. She tried everything—checked connectors, swapped PSU and motherboard cables, even changed the CPU cable. Still nothing. The board is an MSI Z270 gaming pro carbon. It worked just fine last week. Now she doesn’t know what to do.
I cleared the drive and attempted again, but the PC remains non-functional. What steps should I take to reset the BIOS without any power?
Locate the CMOS reset jumper and connect it to a conductive tool. Alternatively, discharge the CMOS battery for approximately 30 seconds to an hour.
Does the strange sound mean your PC might restart or reset? You're just starting out, so it's normal to feel a bit unsure.
Could the PC start up at all? It seems completely unresponsive, possibly due to the recent Gen 3 drive installation. She hasn’t turned it on yet, so it’s hard to say for sure.
