The computer is refusing to accept USB mice.
I removed and reinstalled the drivers for this mouse I have been using. Plugging it into another computer works fine, so I suspect the issue is with the computer itself. The mouse I usually use doesn't function in any of my three USB ports, and even a new, unused one doesn't work. Any suggestions?
In the future, it would be useful to understand from the beginning since most users here, unless they are specifically in the laptops section, are focused on desktops. Still, it's always beneficial on ANY forum.
Yes, it's likely important to identify the laptop model as well. The exact model, which is typically shown either on the specifications decal at the bottom of the laptop or under the battery in the removable compartment, matters. Knowing the mouse model would also be helpful.
Is this the model you were seeking? This mouse has a "UWFY" indicator and lights up, though it's a very inexpensive $5 model. My other one is brand new but doesn't connect to my laptop.
GL702V and GL702VS refer to the series, not individual models. To ensure all USB functions operate properly—especially after recent Windows updates that might affect USB or mouse support—we must identify the precise model.
The link provided leads to the ASUS GL702V laptop series. It's recommended to install the newest chipset and pointing device drivers first, then the BIOS. If this fails, it may indicate damaged USB connectors on the mainboard. ROG GL702VS - Support is available at www.asus.com
It's challenging when you're unsure about the exact model you own. Each series could contain several distinct models, each needing unique chipset, storage controller, audio or network adapter drivers depending on the specific motherboard chipset and other hardware included for that particular version. You can't assume all laptops with a "GL702V" are interchangeable.
Point acknowledged. I'm sure the link will direct him to the ASUS driver support page.
