I powered off my GPU, connected it directly to the board, changed the HDMI cables, tried VGA, but nothing worked until I unplugged it.
A while back my 980 GPU stopped working for no clear reason. I didn’t use overclocking and the power supply was brand new, just purchased a cooler Master 650W Gold.
If your fans continue spinning, it likely means your GPU ports are failing or your cables/monitor aren’t working properly. It’s possible the monitor changed its input settings, which can cause it to display nothing if it’s searching for DisplayPort instead of HDMI. I’ve experienced this with an older model that would switch to HDMI when losing power but used DisplayPort, resulting in a black screen.
it’s not an issue with the cables or monitors. my xbox/ps4 and my brother’s pc are all connected to the same setup too. i turned mine off to check what would happen, but it still doesn’t show anything. i’ve tried pulling the RAM, swapping ports, removing the GPU—nothing works. it seems like the most reasonable thing is that my computer hasn’t been updated recently. maybe the problem lies with the operating system instead of the hardware.
