Hey everyone, just sold my 13th gen Intel kit and built a quick setup until my new Ryzen comes. I’m using a PCWARE i5 4160 RTX 3070 on a PCIe 2.0 slot. When I power it up, the graphics card isn’t working in that old PCIe Express port. Could this be a problem? It reminds me of the GTX 560 issue, but I thought it was dead.
PC starts from a power cycle. You need to test each device individually, beginning with the CPU, PSU, and motherboard, then moving on to the GPU and storage drives one at a time.
PSU, GPU and storage functioned correctly on the other machine 30 minutes before.
PCIe supports both backward and forward compatibility, which means it shouldn't be the problem. For instance, tests have shown an RTX 4090 working down to PCIe 1.1. Of course, a bug could still exist with that specific motherboard or BIOS. Check the motherboard's manual for more details. Beep codes often indicate something (like a long or short sound).
It was the team of the ram guys. And even worse, it’s not just the stick—it’s the slot. The second slot doesn’t work; only the first slot functions with either of the sticks I had installed. So I think I’ll have to settle for 2gigs at this point.
