Hi friends. Because of my dad's illness he didn't turn on his PC for about a year. I brought it to my room a few days ago and in just a few minutes it shut off. Before that I checked the CPU temperature and it wasn't overheating. It's an old AMD Athlon 3600+ with 2 gigabytes of RAM. I thought the problem might be a power cable issue, but it isn't. I noticed the PSU switch seems slightly loose—I can see it. I cleaned dust from it a few days ago. Whenever I plug or unplug something from its USB port it turns off. Now it's evening and I'll check tomorrow. What should I do? I only have a spare PSU to test, no other parts, maybe I could buy used RAM but who knows... I flipped the switch on and off and saw a spark behind it... Probably not safe.
I changed the power supply unit. I started the PC but didn’t hear any beep or see a picture. Then I connected the optical drive via a cable. I got the image, but I want to test it with other PSUs.
