She experienced recurring issues with her PC this week. It would turn on but not display anything, and after turning it off and back on a few times it worked properly. Then it stopped working entirely, and the RGB lights on the keyboard and mouse would turn off. Removing the CMOS battery and reinserting it seemed to resolve the problem, allowing it to boot and function normally. However, after about an hour later, it suddenly stopped outputting again, with the RGB lights shutting down. Removing the CMOS battery once more resolved it. Anyone know what might be causing this? The known specs are a Ryzen 3 3600 processor, no built-in graphics, GTX 1660 Super, 16GB RAM, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max board.

Consider possible issues affecting your board. A loose screw or exposed wire could cause a short circuit. The screw holes on the motherboard might also be damaged, leading to shorts. Think about these possibilities.

That idea crossed my mind, but I'm not there to verify everything. I think she should get a budget SSD I installed back in November. It's unlikely, but it was the final adjustment before problems began.
