It seems your mainboard has a problem, but 16GB should work. You're probably okay at the moment.

As discussed, it seems your mainboard has some issues. As long as the two DIMMs are functioning, you can ignore the light.

There's a great chance that the pc won't work with the black slots when in dual channel mode. To test if anything is wrong with the black slots, try one stick at a time. White, aka 2+4 slots is primary as stated in the manual and with all intel boards.
