I recently purchased a PC and connected it with excitement, but pressing the power button didn’t work. The motherboard lights up when plugged in, yet it won’t turn on. I tried bridging connectors and checking the manual for pin placement, but everything matched correctly. I also re-seated the CPU, GPU, and memory without success. Now I’m considering a replacement motherboard.

Begin by resetting the CMOS. Take off the riser and verify functionality using the GPU in the PCI-e port.

Could you clarify whether the item was purchased used or if you assembled all the components yourself? If it was used, did you inspect it before buying? Was this your first PC build? Do you have any background in PC assembly or troubleshooting?

Purchased it used, tested it and everything functioned properly, then upgraded from 5600g to 5900x but it no longer powers on.

I recently used it and encountered the same problem—nothing functions except the motherboard lights.

It functions correctly when the 5600G is reinstalled. If yes, the CPU might be faulty or improperly placed (the tiny triangle issue).

Reinstall the 5600G and test the original setup. If it functions, the problem likely lies with the 5900x—either its BIOS needs updating or it may be defective, especially if purchased secondhand.

I sold the 5600g and now have a 5800 available to test. I'll keep you updated if anything shifts.

I’m worried about the damage; it looks like the pin placement is off. It might not be a CPU problem, but checking the motherboard could help.
