Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out why my PC won’t boot. I recently upgraded to an ASUS ROG 650A gaming Wi-Fi and updated the BIOS, which initially worked fine. However, I discovered that the older BIOS version didn’t support my RAM at 6000MHz. So I switched back to a compatible earlier BIOS. After that change, my PC started booting normally again. But once I powered it on, everything felt very slow and choppy until it shut down completely. The fans and RGBs would briefly activate for about half a second before turning off, just like the motherboard.

I tested each component one by one and found that if the CPU wasn’t properly connected to the PSU, the system wouldn’t power on at all. Based on others’ experiences, it seems the issue might be with the PSU or the motherboard. I replaced the PSU and tried a different cooler, but the problem continued. I also used another cooler and still had no luck.

My current setup is: Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU, ASUS ROG 670E Taichi motherboard, 1300W PSU, EVGA GT G-rated graphics card (integrated since I know it’s not a GPU issue). It’s frustrating because I’m pretty sure the CPU itself is fine. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you use the same 8-pin EPS cable from another power supply unit or select the ones included with your present PSU?

You're right, I wasn't expecting to see a burnt CPU that subtle—it felt more like the thermal paste than something serious. It's disappointing when it seems like no effort is being made to fix it. That CPU was a real help, and it's frustrating that it's gone.

Used a distinct set of eight pins, though they don't function across various PSUs except for the power cable. Learned my BIOS also affected the CPU. Thanks!

Oh no, I’m really sorry, my message was intended as a light-hearted comment but came across as rude. Here are your choices:
- Reach out to Asus and mention they had issues with this situation
- Contact AMD regarding CPU repairs
- Try Gamer's Nexus or Der8auer if needed
Avoid mentioning BIOS changes or updates, as the faulty BIOS version might already be included on the board but not available for download.
Hope you can resolve it soon! Fingers crossed.

The X670E Taichi is actually from AsRock, not Asus. Are you using an Asus or an AsRock board? Just a heads up—I wasn’t at home, so I checked my phone and didn’t go through the details carefully.
