Windows upgraded to version 2004 and now my PC won’t shut down properly. Pressing the sleep button only dims the screen, not turning off fans or locks. It also fails to lock the system when sleeping, so a single tap wakes it instead of requiring the power button. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

It could be related to power and sleep configurations. I’ve noticed my PC shuts off the screen briefly before turning it back on, and the sleep feature isn’t working for me.

I encountered comparable problems earlier. I opted for the nuclear fix by reinstalling Windows, which resolved the issue. A more straightforward approach would be to execute the command sfc /scannow in elevated CMD.

You can launch an elevated Command Prompt by typing `cmd /c` in the Run dialog or pressing `Win + R`, then typing `cmd` and hitting Enter.

It mentioned no problems detected, are there more steps to attempt?

You ran powercfg /requests and saw the rainway app blocking your PC from sleeping. After closing it in Task Manager, your computer finally went to sleep. It seems the app had a way to stop the system from sleeping or locking, possibly due to a third-party installation. The timing coincided with the Windows update, which might have triggered the issue.
