Hi, your HP Z230 SFF is set up with a Xeon processor and 4 GB RAM. The RAM you received was a single PC3-12800U stick, but you installed an 8 GB PC3-12800R stick instead. When you tried to boot, it wouldn’t start and kept beeping. You mentioned the new stick supports ECC, which should help, but the issue persists. You also ordered three more sticks from the same seller, and they’re all the same model. Is this RAM compatible with your system?

Most (older) consumer grade hardware, does not support ECC memory. Can't find much info on this "HP Z230 SFF", but I did notice it's old stuffs, @ best used by a smoll business. I consider it very unlikely that it would support ECC. Spoiler You could also look for that annoying speaker, and either unplug it, or cut the wires to this speaker. Then at least it won't beep anymore.

No, I didn't see any mention of an "ALERT" section in the ad. Could you clarify what you're referring to?

Product details from HP's documentation list five key features: four DIMM slots, capacity for up to 32GB ECC or non-ECC memory, support for DDR3 at 1600 MHz.

It seems the issue might be that your system doesn't support registered RAM. There are two kinds of ECC RAM—registered and unbuffered with ECC. The "R" in 12800R indicates it's registered. He mentioned he's using a Xeon, and all of them (except possibly one) provide ECC support.

The HP Z230 functions as a business-grade computer, distinct from typical home desktops. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Z
