The computer briefly turns on before powering off.
Hi everyone, I haven't used forums in a while, so sorry if I made a mistake. I was testing the MH Wilds benchmark on my PC and it suddenly stopped. After checking everything, I restarted and it shut down after about three minutes. Now it only powers on briefly when I reconnect the PSU, but it powers off right away afterward. I left it running for roughly eight hours before trying to start it again—it booted normally for about thirty seconds, then looped for around thirty seconds before resetting. After about five minutes, it just powers off again. Any suggestions on what to try? Thanks in advance. Things I've attempted: reseating CPU/GPU, unplugging all MB USB cables, reseating MB power cables, replacing CMOS battery, using only one RAM stick. Parts list: CPU - Ryzen 5 5600, GPU - Lenovo RTX 3070, Motherboard - Gigabyte A520M K V2, RAM - Crucial Ballistix 2x16GB, PSU - EVGA 700 BQ 700W, SSDs - Western Digital Blue SN550 and 1TB, HDDs - Western Digital Blue 1TB and Caviar Black 1TB, Case - Thermalright Assassin X 120SE, Cooling - Deepcool CH370, OS - Windows 11.
I can't directly check the PSU for you. Could you provide more details or confirm what you mean by "the PSU"?
Make sure the power supply is suitable for the setup. Check its voltage and capacity. Also, inspect the connections carefully since the cables seem poorly managed.
Paperclip evaluation for PSU testing device (or multimeter for load assessment) PSU capacity check with alternative PSU in the system The PSU differs between devices
I just checked it with a paperclip and it doesn’t seem to work properly. From what I observed, it might be activating the fans when I reconnect it, which suggests the paperclip is doing something. Since I don’t have a multimeter or different power supplies, I’ll need someone to assist me with this issue.
If you lack the necessary equipment, consider using the replacement method. Alternatively, someone else could assist by swapping in another power supply or computer setup.
It could be the motherboard issue or another problem preventing booting.
If the setup doesn't function properly with a standard power supply, we need to investigate further. An inferior PSU may harm the board and other parts...
