The computer automatically switches power on and off.
Hello, when my PC powers on, it unexpectedly shuts off and then restarts briefly before turning back on, displaying American megatrends. My current choice is to press F1, which leads me to the BIOS menu. I’ve already configured my boot device, so I just press Esc and then restart using normal Windows settings. I tend to turn off the power switch once the PC is fully powered down. A bit of background: a few months ago, while shutting down, I accidentally cut off the main power supply before Windows exited. This sequence has been happening now. Any advice would be appreciated.
These switches aren't built for long-term continuous use and will likely fail sooner than expected due to this limitation. They aren't rated for frequent operation, so it's best to shut off the entire system at the power source if you need to cut power quickly. I'm not entirely confident about this, but that's just a heads-up regarding switch performance.
Have you attempted to avoid shutting off the power supply by using the switch instead? This might help resolve the issue.
Verify your CMOS power source. A computer setup shouldn't stay off for extended periods. The 3v cell on the motherboard preserves your time and preferences during brief power interruptions, not continuous use.
I haven't experienced this before. I didn't note it down. The American megatrends work only at the start of the day, and when I power off the PC and restart, it boots normally again.
It indicates the motherboard relies on a rechargeable CMOS battery that isn’t receiving sufficient power for continuous operation during the night. Replacing it isn’t always necessary—just ensure the power supply remains active long enough to fully charge it.
The previous CMOS battery failure was the issue; a fresh one has been placed. All problems resolved.
