Hi, I'm checking the RAM options. I have two Hikvision U10 units (8GB, 3200Hz CL16) and want to buy two. Each costs $28, while the next best is a Thermaltake M1 at $40. I'm wondering if switching to a cheaper brand with similar specs might impact my in-game performance. I'm trying to stay within a tight budget, so this is important to me.

When specifications match, results will remain consistent. Minor variations are unlikely to be noticeable beyond standardized tests.

Someone mentioned that the timing of the two items might affect the frame timing.

It's accurate, though it varies based on your CPU and processor speed. The extra cost isn't significant, particularly since I won't get impressive performance from that Thermaltake RAM. Just savor the affordable memory and invest the savings in an SSD instead.

The results will remain largely unchanged because minor timing differences won’t noticeably impact performance. You might find affordable bare PCBs from Samsung, such as 2133-2666, and be able to boost them to speeds around 4000 or higher. Samsung dies are recommended, but die is more common (the last letter of the RAM IC model indicates the die; B die is K4A8G085WB and D die is K4A8G085WD). Speeds above 4000mhz can be tricky due to timing issues (except for D die), though it’s manageable on decent Samsung ICs like 8GB, D, and 4GB. Over 4000mhz may not help much aside from those chips. I can actually source them for around $20 locally in India.

The specifications match exactly, meaning there’s no timing difference to account for.
