I'm just concerned about hearing the noise once more and wondering what actions to take with a different power supply unit. I don’t really want to replace the PSU after just five minutes.

Does that relate to the original EVGA 700W Bronze PSU or your brother's unit (model, make, wattage)?
Check the user manual carefully.
Review the Asus website for updates before proceeding.
Make sure any replacement parts are listed on the Qualified Vendor’s List.
Could you give more details about the sound? Where did it originate?
Turn off the system, unplug it, and open the case.
Clear dust and debris from inside.
Inspect thoroughly using a bright light to spot any damage.
Ensure all important data is backed up.

The mob is an
msi b450 m
I didn't update it in the spec sheet.
I checked the PC and cleared debris, but nothing changed.
The noise sounded like a discharge, hard to describe—it might be an arcing sound but with a deeper low pitch.
No other parts seem broken except the PSU.
Yes, that's my PSU, and the switch keeps refusing to turn off.

I put in the new psu, but it caused some issues because of my poorly made case. The computer starts up normally so far and there are no unusual sounds yet.
