I just put in a Nzxt kraken x53 non rgb with two 120mm Aer P radiator fans, each having chamfered intake and fluid dynamic bearings. One fan started making a loud grinding noise, so I had to shut it off in the BIOS. I’d like both fans running for better cooling. I took the fan out of the radiator to check if orientation was the issue—it did drop the temperature but didn’t disappear completely.

The grinding noise suggests a faulty bearing, possibly due to excessive vibration causing fan blade contact with the housing. If covered by warranty, proceed with a return or replacement.

Sure, it's okay; having more fans is better than just one.
