I rely solely on Microsoft’s security tools and basic judgment. It has functioned well so far. Free, integrated, and lightweight. It isn’t flawless—none of the features are ideal—but as I previously said, I just handle the rest with care and common sense. EDIT: (Bitdefender and Firewall on Win8.1, plus I used MSE on Win7)
That's because AVG functions as an antivirus rather than a malware solution, which explains why you should consistently use both antivirus and malware protection tools. Malware, such as ransomware, differs from viruses, and AVG performs just as well as Avast. The main distinction is that you're now incorporating Malwarebytes into your setup, a step you should have taken earlier.
