I've been relying on the caps lock key as my push-to-talk button for Discord for a while now. Everything seems consistent—no software or hardware updates, just the same setup. Suddenly, it started behaving differently. Now instead of sending a single signal, it keeps toggling between both states when you press and hold. This makes it impossible to use as a standard push-to-talk key because my microphone keeps turning on and off and my audio stutters. I've never noticed this before and haven't made any changes either. I'm using Windows 11 with a USB-connected keyboard on an HP Omen (AMD + NVidia) laptop. I'm not sure why this happened or what needs fixing.

Windows hasn't been updated, Discord hasn't been updated, and no drivers have ever been updated. Does this mean the device is completely offline?

I was using my PC yesterday and everything functioned properly. After turning it off and on again today, the problem began. Most of my programs had auto-updates turned off, so I suspect nothing changed. However, the issue isn’t related to Discord since it’s a system-wide change—like the animation and sound for caps lock becoming erratic when I hold the button down. I’m not aware of any other Windows settings that might cause this. Could be a registry adjustment or a hidden BIOS setting from HP? I really don’t know what to do next.

The issue was resolved by updating the HP system utility process quietly, which ran in the background. Stopping it fixed the strange behavior. This change wasn't reflected in the program's interface at all.
