I have a switch near the attic that connects one cable to my PC and another 50 or 100 feet to my brother's computer. Everything worked well before, with no lag, but lately he's reported slower speeds—about 150mb down and 50 up, while his is around 45 down and 25 up. Appreciate the advice!

It might be an issue on the client side. Try connecting your PC to the cable and check if the same problem persists.

Assuming they're reversed, it might be due to an unusual cause. Checking packet loss with iperf3 on each machine could help identify the problem.

I checked the iperf3 configuration and it looks really complicated. During a speed test, the speed dropped sharply from 90 to 45 Mbps. There might be a better method to detect packet loss.
