The BootMgr component is not found.
Hey there. I'm trying a new setup: an SSD as the boot drive with Windows 7 and an HDD for general storage. The HDD I just got today came in today, and I connected it right away. But when I attempt to start my PC, I see an error saying "BOOTMGR is missing." I've confirmed the SSD is set as the boot device in the BIOS (see the photo) and it worked perfectly yesterday, so I'm confused about what's going wrong now. Any advice would be great!
When you disconnect the new HDD and attempt to start with only the SSD, the system will display a message indicating that it cannot proceed without the old drive.
The boot manager likely resides on the previous hard drive you swapped out. Windows sometimes behaves oddly, so it's best to install it on just one storage device for simplicity.
You're correct about the boot manager being on the old HDD, thanks for confirming.
This resource could be helpful, though I haven't tried it myself. You can find more details here: https://www.ubackup.com/clone/copy-mbr-f...-3889.html
Sorry for the repeated interruptions, but I still require some assistance. I’m unsure who else to consult and am hesitant about posting again. The command prompt on the site didn’t help—unplugging the old HDD still shows a missing boot manager. After further searching, I found a discussion about a similar issue, but the explanation isn unclear. Should I partition my SSD before proceeding?
