I overlooked doing enough research before taking such actions. I jailbroken the Wii U last night, but before proceeding, I tried to back up everything on the external hard drive so it could be transferred to a bigger storage device. Once connected to my PC, it didn’t appear in Explorer or Disk Management. MiniTool Disk Partition detected it but suggested changing the boot header to MBR or GPT. Instead of waiting, I chose GPT, but the disk remained unreadable. I decided to give up and reuse the drive. All installed software and Wii U saves were missing—Wii game files were stored in system NAND. After reconnecting the HDD, it reported the drive wasn’t formatted for that machine and asked me to format it. That was a huge mistake; I feared losing all my game saves from the past 11 years. Now I’m stuck without access to the data. Do you have any advice? Is there a way to recover everything from this drive, or should I try restoring the boot header to retrieve the files? Someone on the GBA Temp forms mentioned possibly replacing sector 0 with data from a fresh drive. How would that work?
