I’ve kept my computer running smoothly for about three years until today. When I turned it on, the Windows search bar disappeared. I assumed it was an odd occurrence and tried resetting it to check if it would work. The screen showed a black display with “Reboot and select bootable device.” My setup has only one M.2 drive, which is installed with Windows, and the BIOS recognized it as bootable with high priority. I reset to the default BIOS, expecting it to restore the M.2 slot. After that, the BIOS no longer listed my M.2 as a bootable device in the menu. My QLED monitor still shows the boot light on the motherboard. The BIOS still reports the M.2 storage is present but not functioning as a bootable drive. I’m unsure what’s happening.
I switched back to CSM and now the M.2 looks like a bootable drive, yet the black message keeps appearing.
Have you attempted to reinstall Windows? If successful and the system starts, examine the drive's condition using a tool like CrystalDiskInfo. Share a screenshot of the SMART table here.
