The bios no longer permits CPU overclocking.
I own a 2500k and an MSI Z77A-G41 MMO.
After upgrading the CPU to 4.9ghz it functioned properly, but now the BIOS resets to only the maximum 37x multiplier (3.7ghz).
There was also a chance to set the RAM to 2133, but it’s capped at 1333.
I can still load the OC profile with 4.9ghz, yet when I open Windows it drops to 3.4 in AIDA and MSI Afterburner.
Task Manager shows the CPU clock at 4.9ghz despite this.
After resetting the BIOS with CMOS and removing the battery, the same 37x option remains.
Bios downgraded once still has the same issue.
Are there any BIOS settings that allow enabling overclocking?
When encountering the same issue, I discovered a solution:
Retrieve the most recent bios from this thread
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161593.0
Copy them to an USB drive
and within the bios itself use mflash utility to flash bios+me
When encountering the same issue, I discovered a solution: obtain the newest bios from this thread, copy it to a USB drive, and then utilize the mflash utility within the bios to flash the updated bios along with me.
