Hello, I have the ASRock Extreme4 Z270 and when I power on my system, the BIOS splash doesn't appear. Also, entering BIOS settings causes the computer to freeze after the beep. I can work around this by unplugging the PC and then plugging it back in, which restarts the BIOS screen each time I need to access it. It seems the issue isn't with the motherboard, as my old board (likely Gigabyte H110M-A) behaved similarly. I'm unsure if faulty RAM or the power supply is the cause, especially since I recently reinstalled Windows from a CD and couldn't enter BIOS to change the boot drive. I tried re-seating the memory, but the BIOS still appeared briefly before I could install the OS. This is confusing, and I'm also experiencing problems where my PC turns on but doesn't display at all, requiring me to repeatedly power it off and on. The PSU is a Corsair CX600 and the RAM is Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB.

This seems like a mix-up between coincidence and causality. It might look like a simple fix, but it’s still beyond my skill level. (No pay.) Most folks who know about computers will want to track down the parts and changes, probably.

Remove the CMOS battery, disconnect your computer, and press the power button on your case 5 to 10 times. Adjust your BIOS settings. Turn on the splash screen using the manufacturer's logo in BIOS. Check if these steps resolve the issue.

Thanks for reaching out. I've already updated my BIOS to the latest version. I attempted to clear the CMOS and remove the battery, but those steps didn't resolve the issue. The quick boot is disabled and the splash screen remains on.

Yes, it began right after you made the update.

Ensure your RAM is functioning with MemTest. If your system won’t start, use Ruffus Tool to build a bootable USB on another machine. Verify all PSU connections are secure. Check if your PC is connected to a surge protector or UPS. Have you experienced power loss while the computer was powered directly from the outlet? If yes, your PSU might have been affected, possibly along with other parts. Should your RAM pass MemTest and your PSU remains under warranty, you might need to return it for replacement.

It was occurring before the BIOS update too, I assumed that would have resolved it. Testing the solutions Founders recommended.

I ran Memtest and my memory performed perfectly. I completed the test with four passes. All my PSU cables are correctly connected and I never plug the PC directly into a wall—it stays protected by a surge protector, so I’m not concerned about damage elsewhere. It seems the problem might be with the PSU itself. Since it’s not covered under warranty, I can replace it with a modular model for better cable organization. Thanks for your assistance!
