I'm working on upgrading my old Windows XP system after installing new hardware. After restarting, I encountered a NTFS.sys corruption or missing error. I attempted a fresh installation via USB, but the BIOS doesn't detect it and won't boot from it. The BIOS is set to Phoenix 4 Update 6.

I assume you selected your boot device but can't locate your USB drive in the list: -> Verify Legacy USB is turned on in the BIOS. -> Ensure you didn't disable the USB drive exclusion (this setting is often under boot order or legacy USB support). -> Experiment with a different USB port on the back of your machine. Some boards include their own USB controller, which may not be bootable. You might need to test several options. -> Many motherboards at that time lacked USB boot capability—just a note to remember.

Ensure Legacy USB is activated in the BIOS settings. Maintain First Boot as USB; if unavailable, adjust BIOS configurations and save changes before exiting. During startup, use F11 or F12 to access boot options and choose USB.
